1. Events Townhall

In light of the feedback recieved at the 2016 AGM last December, The Eglinton Way Events Committee will be hosting an events Town Hall on Feb 16, 2017 at 6:30pm at Artbarn School at 250 Eglinton Ave W.

Please RSVP to Sheliza at info@theeglintonway.com We would like to ensure a sufficient number of print materials are prepared for attendees.

2. Proposed Changes to Patio Fees

In late January, many restaurant owners across the City were caught off guard when the Municipal Lisencing and Standards (ML&S) department proposed a 300% percent increase in patio permit fees.
The Eglinton Way BIA was among the BIA’s and restaurant owners at the public consultation at City Hall on Jan 30, 2017 to speak out against this change. A full summary of the comments sent to ML&S can be seen here.
Many individual BIA members also spoke out publically about the issue and an article highlighting the concerns of Eglinton Way members was published in the recent issue of Post City Magazine. Click here to see the full story.
The issue is still under review. However, Mayor John Tory recently published a letter in support of small business and against such unreasonable fees. The full letter can be seen here.

3. Digitizing your Business

Both the Globe and Mail and Toronto Star recently named E-commerce expansion as the largest trend in the retail industry for 2017.
The process of buying has changed. Consumers want to see your products and services online before ever stepping inside your place of business.
It is vital to the health and success of small and medium businesses to improve their digital presence and keep up with the times.

A member of the Digital Service Squad will be working in the Eglinton Way BIA starting January 31st, 2017. If you are interested in receiving help to adopt a digital tool to help your business grow, please be in touch with Allesandra to set-up an appointment (allesandra@digitalmainstreet.ca).
